I'm going to see both and as a past rabid HP fan let me just say its going to be close. I thought I was crazy about HP and believe me, I was. But what I feel about Twilight is beyond that. I feel as if I'm cheating on HP by even saying such a thing. A lot of HP fans are now Twilight fans too, so all I can is, its going to be close!

I don't know....HP has lots of followers - both male & female. I want Twilight to win out, but I just don't know if it will. I love HP books/movies, but I'll be pushing for Twilight!

But there is something about twilight that is more grownup, and dont get me wrong I am a thirty year old women, and sad to say that, but I love the worlds these women have created and even thou HP has a place in my heart he"s more like Jacob to me now.

Well I love Harry Potter very much......even the movies......but I don't think there are as many book fans of that series dedicated (obsessively) to seeing the movies in theatres no matter. Since they deviated away from the books a little, I don't think as many Harry Potter fans will be crazed like us, Twilight fans are for the movie, since so far...technically....that is all that is excited for the Twilight movie.

Take a step back everyone and think...

Yes Twilight will be fantastic and amazing as a movie.
Yes we will all go on opening night with or without our husbands.
Yes it will be popular and make big bucks.

BUT... And this is a big but...

Most of the people going to see Twilight will be teens to well seasoned women (ahem). Most of the people going to see Harry Potter will have at least 2 children in tow both of which will be wearing robs, broken plastic glasses with tape in the middle, and a wand. And a few adults will be dressed like that as well.

I love love love Harry and I will be seeing both movies but with a major difference. I will be seeing Harry to complete my visuals in my mind. I will be seeing Twilight so that I can DROOL over Rob/Edward and wish that I was on that screen in his arms.

**heart flutters**

Agreed. Like you said, seeing both movies, but for different reasons. They will both be good. Even though Harry Potter holds a bit bigger place in my heart than Edward does. But I still love Edward... :D

There is another big movie coming out December 12, The Day the Earth Stood Still, which is a remake of the same title. It's starring Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly. I'm not sure that Twilight can beat that. If you google the title you should be able to find the trailer for it. They just released it infront of Hancock in theatres. I'll still be seeing Twilight that first day but it looks really good.

Here is a youtube link. They have been taking them down quickly so I don't know how long this will work.

I love Harry Potter too, but I loooooooooove twilight!

I will see HP once and wait for the DVD. But I can guarentee I will see twilight many, many, many, many, many, many, times in the theater. That's what makes me think twilight will win. Alot of parents take their kids to HP and are not all that into it. But women, and teen girls are so into twilight (and a few romantic men) we will all see it over and over. Again, I say TWILIGHT! :)

I'm most definitely going to see "The Day The Earth Stood Still". :D
Since "Twilight" won't come out in December in Germany anyway, there's no problem there.

Also, there is a Will Smith moving coming out that day. The last 7 Will Smith movies have been number 1 in the box office! I wrote about my thoughts regarding twilight's competition on page 2 if you're interested. People are talking about it in terms of Harry Potter but I'm not sure it can beat its own weekend's competition. :) Both The Day the Earth Stood Still and Will Smith's movie could probably bring in 50-60mil each and early predictions of Twilight are putting it at 35-45mil. But who knows...anything can happen! :)

Is the Will Smith movie, Seven Pounds?

Yeah, I think the whole Harry Potter/Twilight competition is pretty crazy. Rowling and Meyer are both amazing writers and it shouldn't matter really!

I don't doubt that Will Smiths movie will do great! I was just reading something the other day about how his July 4th releases have all been big! Hancock I think did over 100 million this opening weekend! I wonder what else comes out at the same time as Twilight and HP.

It doesn't matter who wins, as long as we get the following to have all the sequels made. I am a huge fan of both series and will be seeing both films (much to the neglect of my family). It would be great if you could pay and sit in the same theater and see both films back to back (save gas and baby sitting money that way). Of course my butt would go numb but for Harry and Edward I'd make the sacrifice.

*lol* My hubby and I did that once! We had the weekend to ourselves as grandparents were happily keeping the kids for a weekend. So we went to a movie, when it was over, didn't want to go home, so we turned around and went to another movie! It was great since we don't get out much. I think I could handle doing that again to see Twilight a few times in a row
