Well, in 2003 we still had a "film" camera. Digital was still not up to the quality that my techno-geek dh wanted at a price we could afford. Also, I didn't start regularly carrying a cell phone until Aug 2003 -- I was due Sept 1 and my dh finally nagged me enough that I remembered to charge and carry it regularly. I still only use about 15 min/month on average.
I'm trying to remember when we went to roadrunner over modem... I think it was earlier since dh is an IT professional and works a lot out of our home, buuuuuut IIRC I think a lot of other people still had dial-up. My eldest is 16 1/2 and still doesn't have a cell phone. Now the day he gets off his heiney and gets his license we will get another phone, but it will be a "family phone" -- so much easier to monitor that way.
We don't live in a large city, but the combined metro area of 3 small cities is a few mill so I wouldn't say we were "small town", either.
