What the H is up with the incest?
Do you think this can be resolved
satisfactorily, or will we all end up taking long hot

Oh man. You have to see the genius in Cassandra's weaving of this story. She has written such an uncomfortable, wrong in so many ways romance into the story and caused most everyone to look the other way while begging for it not to be true. I'm at the point where I don't really seem to care if they are brother and sister because I don't want it to be true.

The idea that you can fall in love, then are expected to stop feeling that way instantly because of who you are is the heartwrenching part of it for Jace and Clary. I do believe that it can be resolved. I don't believe that they share the same parents. I believe that "brother and sister" from Valentine's perspective will be something different than what we are expecting. I think Clary and Jace are going to come out of the whole thing a bit differently than they went in though. I think family will have new meaning for them.

Incest? In this book? noway!......



I refuse to believe that Jace and Clary are related. I had a theory about Jace after reading the second book (it's posted in the entertainment forum under COA, Don't read the thread unless you have read COA). I honestly think (or would like to believe) they are not related at all.

I totally agree with Edith, I don't think they are related at all, I think The brother and sister thing is just because Valentine "raised" Jace as his own. I am dying to read City of glass, I am not sure i can make it a whole year lol.

Oh my! I had a feeling that was going to happen! I liked the book and have ordered COA...should get it tomorrow...but it, I don't know, seem predictable to me...I don't know how to explain it...Like when you are watching a mystery and you know it's gonna be the quiet landlord who happens to be the main characters long lost father.

The thought of finding out you were in love and made out with your brother......it reminds me of that series Flowers in The Attic...ick! I think in the end Clary and Jace will not be related...not sure where Simon will fit in to all of this...maybe he will drink from the cup and become a Shadowhunter?? hmmm...or will he risk his life for his best friend-again-and become a werewolf/vampire or dead???

Is it bad that I still want them to hook up? I know... *ducks head in shame* I wanted to believe that they are not really related, because that would just be so convenient for me... But, alas, I think they really really are brother and sister... Ugh.

I am going to start on the sequel tonight (assuming is shows up today as it is scheduled to...) so I suppose I will know the answer to this soon enough...

But really, ugh! I just don't want it to be true!

no, i'm right there with the rest of you. i so don't want them to be related because they just seemed to belong together.

also, it didn't really seem like incest, per se, since they kissed before they realized any relation that they had to one another.

i've just started the second book and i'm eager to see what happens!

As soon as I started to see the foreshadowing that they might be brothers & sisters I got sick to my stomach. It was already late and I needed to get to bed but I had to know so I skipped ahead. And I still have not finished it because it honestly makes me sick to my stomach. Right now just thinking about it makes my stomach unsettled. I keep hoping that I can make my stomach settle enough to go back and finish because I liked the book. I just hope this is all some big misunderstanding. By the way I have 6 brothers, just in case you were wondering why I am so weird about this.

I so want to see Jace and Clary together. I was a little freaked out when they turned out to be brother and sister. Deep down inside I don't think they are related.

So, here are my two cents.....

I am holding out hope that they are not siblings. I read a preview for the second book. It says we will learn more about Jace's lineage. I am wondering if their status as siblings will change.

Incest? Yuck. I was a little grossed out, but still found myself hoping they could be together somehow!

But I will say, I do have a soft spot for Simon. I would like for him to be with Clary.

I was actually hoping Jace and Clary would get together and was quite surprised they were brother and sister. My heart was broken. Also, Jace and Clary just kissed. So did Luke and Leia in the Empire Strikes Back (they were brother and sister) and they recovered so hopefully they will as well.

I don't consider a kiss incest. I want Jace and Clary to end up together. I don't believe they will end up being siblings. I just know there is something more. Ugh.. I can't wait!!!![/i][/b]

I agree. I just screamed NOOOOOOOO when I found out they were brother/sister, but I honestly don't think they are. Maybe wishful thinking lol but I want them to be together SO BAD I just might look the other way if it turns out to be true * *

I did the exact same thing as soon as I thought that there was a chance of them being related, I skipped ahead too. I haven't had the desire yet to finish it and don't know if I will... It would seriously be like finding out that Edward was actually bella's great grandfather or related some other way. Can you even imagine??? It's just wrong, and I don't like it!!! I do like reading the theories that they might not be siblings, but I might do some research and find out before I do more reading. I am pretty convinced that they are because of valentine's and jace's similar physical appearances. I just don't have the time or patience, frankly, to read a book that makes me sick. Am I being too critical?

I'm still in shock at the thought of Brother and Sister! I'm not buying it ... sure you can be attracted to members within the family circle simply because they are similar to oneself ... BUT if they were truely related the KISS would have REPELLED them, but it didn't. Trust me ... (long story but...) my step-brother tried to kiss me like years and years before our parents got together and married... and even back then the kiss was like EWWWWWW it felt like I was kissing my brother!!!!!! My 6th sense was in complete distress ... So I'm not believing Valentine.

AND .. NZ still hasn't received copies of COA I need to know what becomes of them ...
