In our house, birthday's are like holidays...and we actually have a tradition called the Birthday Elf. My mom started it when we were young and now my siblings and I do it for our children...

On the night before the child's birthday when he/she is sleeping, the Birthday Elf comes. He decorates the house with streamers and balloons...especially around the door of birthday child. (I added putting the age that they are turning on the door with streamers.) The Birthday Elf wraps all the presents to help the parents and leaves them on the table with the birthday cake.

How sweet. I am sure all the children in your family have come to really look forward to a visit from the birthday elf!
