|
|
So...I'm in the shower this morning and of course I was thinking about the books, and I don't know if this has been brought up before, but I couldn't find anything (I'm sorry if I'm rehashing here!!)..
Why is it that Bella's future "disappears" whenever she is with Jacob?? I mean I know that Alice cannot see the werewolves and she wouldn't be able to see Bella while she is with them, but if Bella is so sure about her future and the decision that she has made, then it shouldn't disappear just because she is with Jacob. In Eclipse when Bella makes the split decision to go to Jake's before Alice can stop her. Edward later says that Alice called him when her future suddenly disappeared???
That being said, here is my theory. I think that when she is with Jake, her decision isn't quite so clear and therefore Alice cannot see Bella and Edward together.

What initially comes to my mind without much pondering is this....I don't think that her decision was ever unclear???? She had NEVER given any thought to her and Jacob being together....until the "real" kiss and she still knew immediately that there was no choice....it was ALWAYS Edward. The second she realized that she DID love Jacob and that she ALWAYS had...she also said it wasn't enough....it was never enough.....so I don't know if that would affect what Alice sees? Subconsciously her decision might have been different...but I don't think this would have any effect on Alice either? Just my theory.....anxious to hear others!??! Must ponder!

This is what Edward says about it...
"...Calisle theorizes that it's because their lives are so ruled by their transformations. It's more an involuntary reaction than a decision. Uttely unpredictable, and it changes everything about them. In that instant when they shift from one form to the other, they don't really even exist. The future can't hold them...." _________________

I have wondered this as well, but chose to believe what Edward shared Carlisle's thoughts on the matter. _________________ [

It ate my post and I feel like biting something!
The gist was I think the short-term choices can meddle with the long-term ones. Even though Bella only wants to be with Edward, there is an impact on her proximity to the wolves. Very tricky business. Maybe we need werewolf psychologist to help us explain.... _________________ Beck

I think it's something to do with the wolves, like was said above, and not necessairly just Bella. Bella is very certain of her choice in Edward, but since Alice can't "see" the wolves, she can't see the future that is impacted by their decisions. _________________ "And most importantly, what could she see happening now in her strange, imperfect visions of the future?" (Bella, thinking of Alice)

It is so great to get others takes on this!! I didn't think about the fact that what the werewolves do could impact Bella's future and therefor interfere with Alice's visions.
I wil have to ponder this further....

I'm wondering if there is more to this. Alice can't "see" the wolves, and Carlisle has a theory. But, maybe it is part of the werewolf magic that protects them from the vampires. Although, not all vampires can "see" the future. Then again, I might be trying to put too much scientific thought into this. I'm trying to figure out how a fictional vampire can't see the fictional future of fictional werewolves! I do need help... _________________ A Volvo: it’s sorta a Catholic girl thing, conservative on the outside, but bad on the inside.

My thoughts exactly, Sam never made the choice to hurt Emily , but he did, and it only took a split second.

Maybe we are asking the wrong question here.. Why can alice "see" others future in the first place?
OT Jaspers and edwards talents still work on them... Hmmmm _________________ "I have to step out for a second...Don't do anything funny while I'm gone." - Emmett
