But you were so close! I guess if you really don't like it is a waste of time.

I have totally given up reading this book. I just can't pick it up. But I have told myself that I will read it by the end of the year.

I finished yesterday! Finally! It does get better, especially from the fight in the palor(sp?) scene between Edgar and Heathcliff and on. I swear there was no lulls after that for me because the characters drop like flies and the the whole parallel Heathcliff draws between their children and his ghastly revenge (including a kidnapping!!!!) to the very end but the haunting he goes through makes the last twenty pages fly. It's creepy how Heathcliff is perfectly able to turn on the charm and be a people pleaser but takes no pleasure in pleasing anyone only in exacting revenge. Hang in there, stick it out! I gaurantee you'll love yourself in the morning for it!!!

Of course he could do that...HE WAS A SOCIOPATH!!!! A completely creepy character!

You still have a little way to go...But it starts getting good soon! Did you feel bad for Heathcliffe when Cathy died? I actually teared up!

I felt badly for Edgar, not Heathcliff- for all his bravado, H just didn't get it. He could have had C, if he had just asked, I think. Edgar tried to make her happy, I'm sure. Yet no matter what, it wasn't enough. Kind of like Bella & Jacob would have been, with Edward playing a much nicer, self-less Heathcliff-type.

Don't feel too bad, Donna. Not everyone can appreciate every book out there- no matter how special/ revered it is "suppose" to be- for whatever reason. As I said before- Go for "Jane Eyre"! You won't be disappointed there!

Darla- I know what you mean! I felt soooooooooo horrible for poor Edgar! He and his daughter were the only innocent ones in the book! Oh it was so sweet how he never left Cathy's side. Even after she was so cruel to him!

I never thought I would feel bad for Heathcliffe...But when he's by the tree crying to himself, I saw the human side of him in that brief moment, and couldn't help but feel sympathy for him.

Well, I have to confess that one of the reasons I put down WH is because I had bought Enthusiasm and was dying to read it. I was up last night with a puking daughter, so inbetween bathroom visits I finished Enthusiasm. I REFUSE to give away one single detail other than WOW! LOVED IT!

Jaeven- Thanks for the heads up! I was thinking about skipping Enthusiasm, cuz I'm having trouble finding it...Plus I just started revamping. But I guess I'll order it on amazon, and just read it in Februrary while everyone discusses it.

WE have a wonderful store in the area- "Half-Price Books" & I've been to 3 stores- can't find it!!! They didn't have it at Target either. I am going to have to get my butt to the library, I guess. I had no idea it would be so illusive! We're moving this weekend... I'm reading "The 13th Tale" now, but the minute I lay hands on "Enthusiasm"- I'll blow off "13 Tale" for now & blow through "Enthusiasm"... can't wait to move on to happier topics!

I have always wanted to read Wuthering Heights.. I read the first couple pages & ended up renting the movie (just couldn't get into it). Sorry Steph ~ maybe another day and time. The movie was pretty good!

Looking forward to Enthusiasm but have no idea what it is about? Hopefully I can find it at the library.

I have to admit I picked up WH and had a hard time starting it. My main motivation was to find the context of the quotes referenced in Eclipse. I trudged through it and actually did find myself kinda enjoying it.

I breeze through books. It is really hard for me to put them down until their finished. At first, this was not an issue with Wuthering Heights. Eventually though, I did read straight through and really wanted to finish it. Enthusiasm, on the the other hand, I started and finished in one sitting and loved it. Again, I did not get much sleep. Embarassed That's the only thing that drives my husband nuts- is when I give up sleep for my reading passion. Only he can't say too much about it, because he does it too sometimes. Wink

And I got Enthusiasm at the library. It was really cute. I just had to return it, so I hope I won't want it to reference when that discussion finally starts. Very Happy

I started reading it but it was much too obscure, so I wil try it again later. I picked up Enthusiasm and realized that in order to really "get" that book, I would have to read P & P, which I am doing so right now. I know, I can't believe I haven't read it before. But, there is a first for everything! I love P & P so far!

YEAH! Despite a move & the flu, I managed to locate "Enthusiasm" at the library Monday & just finished it- really loved it; very sweet! Can't wait to talk about it Friday.
