A good friend of mine and I were talking about the Twilight saga tonight and at the end of our conversation she asked me if she could borrow my copy of Twilight. I looked down, a little depressed, because I actually said NO! Not in a mean way, of course. I mean, I've only read these books twice, and I just finished Eclipse again about a week ago. What happens if I decide at the very last minute that I can't stand it and I HAVE to start reading them again, in say ...a couple days? AND THEN I WON'T HAVE MY BOOK!!! *starts to panic* I would do almost anything for this friend...but I can't bear to loan her my copy of Twilight! Please tell me I'm not a complete freak for feeling this way!

I bought a second copy so I could infect others with the obsession, while still feeding my own.

No don't feel guilty I lent mine to a great friend the day of the super bowl back in January and still do not have it back. I have 2 more copies now. I have 2 copies of all the books now...

I refused to pass my friend all three books at once and opted for a prisoner exchange one-for-one thing instead.

I also have sudden urges to revisit certain passages in the book so I call him a couple of times in the week and make him check the facts out.

I do have two copies of the series but one set is signed so I try not to touch those though I have succumbed on occasion (usually very early hours in the morning when I don't want to wake my friend up) :P

But... nope. Absolutely no guilt. ;)

Ditto! I couldn't stand to be without my books, so I bought extra copies.

There is nothing wrong with having a hard time lending your book out...when I lent mine out I bought another...and then I lent that one out and bought another...and basically now I have four copies of Twilight. I look at it as an investment :D

Nope have read them in excess of 15 times or more.. but I won't let go of even one of them. I convince someone to buy it, or I buy it as a gift.. but mine are not leaving me. Ever. LOL.

Me too. I bought them in hardback and paperback and even though I have two copies, I don't know how other people take care of their books. My cousin borrowed her friends set of books and handled them like soap bubbles because her friend made it very clear that if she returned them in less perfect condition than she got them, she would break her jaw.

I completely understand where your coming from, though I learned the hard way. I was so desperate to have someone my age read the books I lent them to a very close friend of mine. I thought it being only one at a time would make it easier, but my reaction nonetheless was completely unbalanced lol. I was unbelievably anxious, nervous...I felt like I'd lent out a vital appendage...calling her every night " Are you done yet? " It wasn't until I had all three together again that I was able to fully relax. I've since ordered Twilight in hard cover, so now the paperback can be lent out without me feeling like I've lost something. Got an extra copy of Eclipse too since I bought the special edition...hmmm maybe I should go out and grab another New Moon ?

I only have 1 copy of each book  and lots of people have asked to borrow them and I have had no problem saying "NO" even though I can't say it any other time! I bought my Mother Twilight for Mothers day, and then she bought the others and pre-ordered BD and since HAS lent her copy of Twilight to two other people. So without ever having to lend MY books I have helped "infect" three other people!! I just honestly can't be without my books, what if I needed one and I didn't have it, the thought alone sends me into a panic!

NO! you are not a freak! I actually did loan my books (after a total internal struggle) after reading them 4 times....to my neighbor. She returned Twilight (with its bent and soggy pages..) unscathed. BUt MY copies of New Moon and Eclipse got chewed on by her puppy! She did buy me new copies....but they felt like strange material in my hand. I was P.O'd! Of course then I had to go and read them again...TWICE to get all of my tears and emotion into the pages....so I've learned my lesson and I will NEVER let them out of my house again! :) lol So don't feel bad...things can happen and your books might never be the same again... I almost felt like I'd been chewed on when my neighbor told me what happend!

I had to buy my BF Twilight as a gitf, but when she was ready for NM, she wanted to borrow it from me, I let her, and when she was going to take it out of my hand......I couldn't let go...I got real nervous, and had to say..."your going to have to pull it out of my hand, I can't let go...sorry" after that, I just bought her Eclipse, I wasn't going thru the panic again...LOL

HOLY CROW you guys!!! I am sooooo relieved to hear that you all feel the same as me.:o I thought because I am so much older than all of the teenie boppers who are reading these books that I shouldn't feel so strongly about these books (I mean I'm 38 for pete's sake!). But I am continuously amazed at the obsessive feelings Twilight instills in others my age, and older! My mom came to visit me for a week and I got her to start reading Twilight (it was different though, because it never left my house! lol) when I was re-reading New Moon. Well, she finished Twilight in no time at all and she wanted to start reading New Moon - WHILE I WAS STILL READING IT!!! We actually had to share the book and take turns reading it like nice little children. I thought I had learned the sharing lesson a very long time ago, but again I was amazed at the feelings of anxiousness I got when I saw my mom reading the book and I wasn't!!! And I know for a fact that she felt the same way, and she's 63! I guess you're never too old for a good romance, eh? Craziness!

I was kind enough to loan my daughter's book to my friend Emily, and since have gotten her hooked, and my daughter was having withdrawel symptoms. LOL, anyway got the book back safe and sound, and my friend has since bought her own collection. But my daughter was impossible, kept asking me if she was finished with it yet.
